George Scott painting by Rob Schamberger

Acrylic and spray paint on 24″ x 24″ wood

A multiple-time tag team champion, George Scott made a giant impact on the wrestling world when he transitioned to the backstage. George had an illustrious wrestling career, competing in the US, Canada, and abroad, notably teaming with his brother Angus as the Flying Scotts. After retiring from the squared circle, George transitioned into the role of a booker, becoming one of, if not THE most important bookers in the history of the sport. While with Jim Crockett promotions, he signed, wait for it, Wahoo McDaniel, The Super Destroyer, Johnny Valentine, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Roddy Piper, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair!

To quote Motley Crue, “Whoa! Yeah!”

For most people, that would be enough, but not for one George Scott. He then went to WWF in 1984, where he oversaw the purchase of Stampede Wrestling, then went on to book the first two Wrestlemania’s and the first Saturday Night’s Main Event! He also aided in cleaning up the rampant drug problems in the WWF at that time, instituting a policy that is still followed to this day.

George’s wife Jean commissioned me to do this painting as a birthday present for him. As I said to her, it’s a true honor.
