Tiger Hotel

This year for the holidays I decided to do paintings for everyone in my family. Since we had our first holiday get-together, I can start sharing these with the rest of y’all!

This one was done for my in-laws who have become synonymous with Columbia, MO. I wanted to do something for them based on the city, but not so much on MU. I opted for one of their real landmarks and a part of their skyline, the Tiger Hotel.

I did this on canvas, first doing the sky with spray paint. I then painted the building with black acrylics, then made a stencil of the ‘Tiger’ sign and the lights beneath it. I spray painted the stencil, then added a little more acrylic over them to create the glow. I was really happy with how it all came together, and the in-laws seemed to like it too!
