Street Art Progress: Day Two

With my guidelines in place, it was time to lay down where my colors will go. I approached this the same way I do all of my paintings, going from dark to light, from background to foreground. For this particular piece, that meant black, then violet, then light blue, then white.

Man, at this point I was getting nervous. Everything was rough and blobby and dripping all over the place. I’ve been working with spray paint for a few years now, but never on this scale or scope. The drips were becoming an issue, but that was due to my inexperience. A little time and practice took care of that.

With the basics of the face done, I then brought in the red for both the sunglasses and the light being cast from them onto her cheek. It was starting to come together now, but I didn’t see it at the time. My nerves were too dominant.
