Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Joyner-Kersee (born 1962) has been named by Sports Illustrated as the Greatest Female Athlete of All Time. Her accomplishments speak to that, placing Silver at the 1984 Summer Olympics for the heptathlon, scoring over 7000 points at the 1986 Goodwill Games, placed Gold for both the heptathlon ( with the still-standing world record of 7,291 points) and the long jump at the 1988 Summer Olympics, earned another Gold at the 1992 Summer Olympics in the heptathlon, and amazingly won the heptathlon again at the 1998 Goodwill Games. That’s A LOT.

In 1988 she formed the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, which provides athletic lessons and resources to improve quality of life for people and families of all ages in the East St Louis, IL area. In 2007 along with other athletic legends like Andre Agassi, Muhammad Ali, and Tony Hawk she helped found Athletes for Hope, a charitable organization which aids professional athletes to become involved in charitable causes and to promote non-athletes to volunteer and support their communities.
